The Palestinian people are the biggest losers

And I keep wondering.. What do we want to achieve? What reasons can cause such death and anarchy? It looks like we are paying a very high price for nothing..
Does the anarchy in Gaza serves anyone? Or maybe it only serves the radical streams in Gaza such as the Hamas? We are only damage ourselves because of these events..Innocent people are dying, the food in Gaza is running out, and also the gas and patrol are running out.
How can life continue in Gaza after such events? What options have left for the citizens of Gaza? I can't really see how their life can return to normal if there is a lack of food and petrol. How families can survive and enjoy life?
I am really depressed and I can truly say that my hopes are dissolving..
In addition, my friend has drawn another caricature.

I would be happy if on the next time ill write a post, the anarchy will be a thing from the past,
Asad al nimr.

As a Jewish American Israeli now living in Holland I can tell you my cousin that I share your despair. At the same time I recognize that because I am living here that your daily life is so much more difficult, frightening and frustrating than mine. Sadly the possibility of a peaceful, dignified and prosperous life for Palestinians seems further away than ever. And until that day comes for you, I too can also not be at peace, not as a people and certainly not as a human being.

I can never fully imagine what it must feel like to be a Palestinian living in occupation but I know it is wrong and inhumane. Perhaps somehow, in some way that we can not yet see, this latest tragedy will be a turning point towards something good. I know that is incredibly optimistic but I do not want to give in to hopelessness.

My most heartfelt prayers are with you and I will keep letting my voice be heard for justice.

Peace, salaam and shalom

Dear Asad, I trace breathlessly the development of things in Gaza and West Bank. Is there a way out of this mess? I try to figure out from distance of 2500 km the situation. My hopes are that maybe (maybe, maybe) the release of withheld aid from EU and USA, together with the release of Palestinian tax incomes by Israel, and (hopefully) dismantling of considerable amount of checkpoints and hopefully some more economic cooperation, that after these things the financial situation of people in the West Bank will start to improve to such degree, that Gazans will finally realize that Hamas and isolation are the dead-end street, and Hamas will start visibly loosing the popular support. Now, as I read in the Israeli press, still 42% would back Haniyeh (49% for Abbas), which suggests me that still Hamas has strong backing... and with Hamas, I can guess it would be extremely hard (if not impossible) to end the occupation and create the Palestinian state on a way of negotiations. I wish you, Asad, that people in your areas would experience prosperity, and feeling of changes for good. I believe that peace in your region, basing on two states, and relationships between good people on-the-ground is really possible. Best wishes from Poland!

Dear Asad:
A good friend of mine once shared with me a proverb... I want to share it with you:

"the darkest moment of the night is the closest moment to the future"

My condolences and my heart goes to all of those whom were killed in the struggles between the factions. But things might just be looking up... The International Community wants to help and they will do so by means of talks and dialogue. The world's attention is now on the Palestinians and it is more than evident the suffering that the people go through... specially in Gaza. There is an article in my blog about having Tony Blair being the head of the International Quarter's Plan for talks for Peace in the Middle East. Before the day Hamas took over, the issue of Peace in the middle east wasn't even an issue. NOW IT IS =) Krzysztof said it... Israel will be releasing the taxes... that's a change.

I know it's easy for me to say this. I am in peace typing my message in Washington DC. But nonetheless... keep up that chin. Keep it up. Don't give up.

when it's really really really dark... it can only get lighter... just stay up and see.

Saludos, cuidate y paz! (spanish for "regards, take care and peace")

Jess
